A Faith In Humanity Moment
Sometimes good things happen that are unexpected....sometimes. Yesterday had one of those times.
One of my regular hangs is a local Panera Bread, I usually go there about 5 pm and have some tea and a pastry. I either bring a book or my Kindle Fire Tablet and chill for about an hour. Monday, I brought the tablet.
I live about a half mile away and yesterday there was a bus waiting, so I jumped on. I have a two block walk home from the bus stop. As I walked in the door, I noticed the only thing I was holding was a cookie. It's a good cookie but I'd rather have had the tablet.
I mumbled a few nasty words and immediately wrote off the tablet. I did find the number for the bus garage, gave them a call and let them know what happened. The woman I talked with said she'd give me a call if anything turned up. I wasn't holding my breath.
I told a neighbor the story and she said I should pray for the return of the tablet. I'm not big on prayers and I'm certainly not going to use one for something like that. Praying about tablets is left to Moses.
She said I should visualize the returrn of the tablet. I really need new neighbors.
About two hours later I get a call....we have your tablet. Never saw that coming. I figured at best it was 15% I'd see it again.
My friend Jessica (who has a blog here, read it!!) said it's faith afirming. ABSOLUTELY!! My name was nowhere on the tablet. It would have been easy for someone to keep it.
My friend Lissa says maybe it's my good Karma paying off. Could be.
Maybe it's just somebody doing a nice thing that cancels out my stupidity for leaving the damn thing on a bus.
It's probably a little of all of that.
In the unlikely event the person who turned it in is reading this, thank you so very much. Hopefully I get a chance to pay it forward.
The Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah starts tomorrow night. Maybe this a sign of good things happening in the coming year. It's a good start.
