A Year In The Life....My Favorite Moments At ChicagoNow-Part 2
Since this blog deals mostly with Health/Wellness issues, mostly Parkinson's, it wouldn't be a recap without focusing on some of those.
Parkinson's is a neurological disease. It would follow that I would have a neurologist. Sounds simple enough, doesn't it? Yeah...but when your neurologist has a stroke (doesn't anyone see some irony in that?) it complicates thing.
My hunt for a new doctor took me to a hospital I never would have dreamed of going to and really was A Day In The Life that I can never get back. Little did I know I would be spending a lot more hours at Stroger Hospital.
Have you ever been to this place? Of course you have. You know those pretty wine displays they have? Of course you do! Guys with PD really do need to be careful when walking around...even if they're really just checking out the women. Spill The Wine...Dig That Girl was about an accident I had at Whole Foods. By the way...I don't drink wine!!
Healthwise, I had some other stuff going besides Parkinson's. I had this little nodule on a lung. A doctor I had never seen before this visit told me I most likely had Lung cancer. This was five minutes into the appointment.
Two weeks later there was a follow up phone call where he basically did his best Emily Litella impression, "Nevermind". He set up an appointment to show me what happened. My Doctor's Dog Ate His Homework told about how all the test results were missing. I think he's still asking the nurses what they did with the missing disks. I'm suppose to go for another follow up scan next month. I think it's time for me to say "Nevermind."
Finally, you know this guy! I write about Michael J. Fox a lot. He's the biggest face in the world of Parkinson's Disease. Muhammad Ali may be the bigger name but MJF is out there all the time. His foundation does incredible work. They raise money for research. They spend money on research...a lot of money!!
So when Mike decided to go back to work full-time, everybody was excited. That included the Parkinson's community and NBC. It looked like a win-win for everyone. It wasn't. The Michael J. Fox Show Is Cancelled: What It Really Means looked at some of the repercussions and really a few of the good things that happened because of the failure of the show.
It's by far my most read post. It'll have it's 8,000 reader in the next day or two. I don't know why but I get between 25-50 people reading it every day. Today I found someone in Norway reading it. I don't get it but that's okay. Plus apparently it pissed off someone at the MJF Foundation. My request for an interview was denied. I even sent in questions by email...no response. Later I asked some technical questions for a couple of stories...never heard anything back. Oh well...life goes on. But Mike...cmon man. I still love you. It was just business!!
Phew...so that's year one. On to year number 2. What's on tap? I dunno but it's doubtful there will be 209 of these. Maybe I can finish that book...hmmmm.
Okay...gotta go...Michael J. is looking weird at me and it's creeping me out. See ya soon...OUT!!
