Advice to the new graduate: Take It Easy
"May you build a ladder to the stars And climb on every rung Bob Dylan May you stay forever young"
This is a ChicagoNow series...advice to the new graduates. Since I may be the only one who has a child graduating this year, I'll chime in.
I don't think any one piece of advice works for all the graduates. Everyone is different. Each could use their own individual advice. I only know what I think would work for my graduate daughter.
She already knows how to work hard. Her college schedule included a full load of classes, working in the school library, singing in the school choir, doing an internship at her Temple, and playing keyboards in a band.
Phew...I'm tired just writing that. If I ever grow up, this kid will be my role model.
My advice to her....loosen up.....relax....Have some fun.....and do it before life gets too serious. Kid, just take it easy
Now that you have my advice, here's something else I want to to tell you.
I'm so proud of the young woman you've become. Almost every day I tell someone about something great you're doing. I have no doubt that you'll continue to do great things. And oh yeah....I love you!
As for having fun...the new graduate is off to Los Angeles to hang out with her sister. They'll be going to Las Vegas for a wedding.
One final piece of advice...remember what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
Lighten up while you still can Don't even try to understand Jackson Browne/Glenn Frey Just find a place to make your stand And take it easy
