Another school shooting and Donald Trump wants us to “Get Over It”
It didn't take long. Four days. That's when we had the first school shooting of 2024. It occurred in Perry, Iowa. Two students are dead, including the shooter. Six others were wounded.
By coincidence, the Republican presidential candidates have been campaigning in the state. The Iowa caucus, the first in the nation, is scheduled for January 15.
Former President Donald Trump commented about the shooting: “It’s just horrible, so surprising to see it here. But have to get over it, we have to move forward.”
Do you think the family of the sixth-grade student killed will “Get Over It?” Do you any of those who were wounded or their families will “Get Over It?” Do you think even the family of the shooter will ever “Get Over It?” In 2023, there were two hundred eighty-eight school shootings. Do you think any of the people who were affected by those will “Get Over It?”
It's pretty harsh rhetoric from someone who wants to be the next leader of our country. Not exactly filled with any kind of sympathy or empathy for the victims. But, it’s not surprising; in fact, it’s what we’ve come to expect from him.
Hopefully, we can use the same phrase when Trump loses to Biden in November.
