Are we really ready to get back to normal?
I've got to admit it's getting better
A little better all the time (it can't get no worse)
I have to admit it's getting better.
It does look like the world is getting better. Hospitalizations and deaths due to the virus are down. Vaccinations are moving forward at a decent pace. In the next couple of months, anyone who wants to be vaccination should be able to get one.
The world looks like we moving towards becoming normal again. But, are we really ready? Are you?
Last week I received an e-mail from a local music venue. It informed me that some artists that cancelled last summer's concerts had rescheduled them for August and September of this year. I thought, interesting, but I don't know if I'm ready to sit with thousands of other concert-goers.
Then yesterday, word came that Wrigley Field had also rescheduled their concerts from last summer. Damn, an even bigger venue with the opportunity to sit with a larger group of people. Apparently, it was a big day for live music because the Ravinia Festival said they were back, too. Their schedule will be announced next month.
We've already heard that fans will be allowed back into Chicago's baseball stadiums when the season begins in April. Yes, the numbers will be limited, but a small percentage is better than none, I guess.
I have to admit, all of the above is scaring me. Yes, I've had both of the Covid-19 vaccinations, but most of the nation has not. Do you want to sit in the vicinity of someone who can pass on the virus to you? Yeah, I know that being vaccinated will prevent being hospitalized and dying from Covid-19, but why take a chance on getting the disease at all?
I understand that people are ready to resume the lives that were put on hold a year ago. I miss live music, going to games and just seeing people out on the street...without their masks. But, it just seems to be too much, too soon....at least for me. Am I the only one?
