Art As Therapy For Parkinson's
Last week I wrote a piece about using alternative therapy and activities to make living with Parkinson's Disease easier. One of those activities was Art.
A couple of years ago there was an art class offered where I lived. I thought it would be fun and it was a chance to do something creative. Little did I know it would help with one of my biggest Parkinson's issues.
I have problems writing. When I put a pen on paper my hand freezes and it usually takes two hands to start the movement. The same problems were there when I was drawing or painting but during the course of the activity, I notice my hand moved easier and more freely. I was able to use one hand and the strokes were smoother.
The gallery features photos of my art work with some comments about the process.

This is a story about how Mickey Hart from the Grateful Dead was able to use percussion to reach his grandmother, who had a neurological disease.
