On Tuesday, many residents of Washington D.C. received a special piece of mail. Questionnaires hit their mailboxes as the court system tries to get a jury pool for the Donald Trump trial that begins in early March.
When I heard this news, it led to two thoughts: the trial is only three months away and how are they going to find an impartial jury?
Donald Trump is a love him or hate him kind of guy. There’s no in-between. When you have someone who brings out such strong feelings and opinions, how will it be possible to find someone who will be fair? How is it possible to find someone who can make a judgment based only on the evidence they hear at the trial? Can they find twelve such people?
It won't be easy, but I guess we’ll see what happens in about ninety days. I can't wait…uh oh…I guess I won't qualify to be a juror. Could you?
Despite holding deep disdain for that moron Trump, I would be an objective juror at his trial (s). I've sat on juries before. You are individually questioned not only by the attorneys but by the judge. Judges ask pointed questions and with real AUTHORITY. They ask, "can you be objective?" One time I said no and the Judge to my surprise thanked me for being honest and excused me. I believe in the rule of law which also requires a citizenry willing to accept jury duty as necessary function of a Democracy.
