Dazed and Confused
How many of you have become lost in your own neighborhood? C'mon now, raise your hands.
Sure....but how many of you have had it happen twice when you're three blocks from home? Yeah, that's what I thought. Just me...uh huh.
My issues started at a blogging party. What! You have blog parties? Relax...they aren't orgies. Well at least it wasn't before I left.
Anyways...I had a Parkinson's moment. I felt really shaky and could feel it internally, too. It's hard to explain but it happens once or twice a month...in addition to the normal Parky crap. Usually I take a Valium, turn on some tunes and try to chill until it passes.
The problem was the Valiums were an hour away. See, I usually don't travel with them. The government frowns on that kind of stuff.
So I just went home early...no biggie except for that orgy thing.
I made it home. Relaxed for a bit and then went to bed. I had a normal nights sleep which means awake at 4ish and not being able to fall asleep again.
In the real morning, which means about 10, I was still feeling shaky so I thought some fresh air would help. Off for a walk. Here's where it gets interesting.
I was about 20 minutes into it when I noticed I had no idea where I was. Not a clue.
I know the lake is to the east, so let's turn here. Phew. Familiar ground. Hey that's Waveland Avenue. I know this street. I should turn here. What? I don't know this street. Hmmmm...where am I now.
I finally found Fullerton and Racine. While that's in my neighborhood, it's a mile and a half away from home. Oy!! I caught a bus home.
So many questions....How did this happen? How did I get here? Is this Parkinson's related? Am I losing my mind?
Here's the answer- I don't know times 4 = WTF!!
Every time this happens...yes it's happened before...I wonder if it's brain related. Lewy Body disease, dementia, Alzheimer's. Scary shit.
I talked to my doctor about this and he said not to sweat it. You're old, this happens and oh yeah...you have a thyroid problem which causes this.
And still I ask again....have you ever been lost two times when you're three blocks from home. Shaking my confused head!
