Does Elon Musk’s failures with X make you rethink SpaceX and Tesla?
SpaceX began in 2004. It was exciting to see an alternative to the flights from NASA. I loved the sleek design of their rockets. Even when they exploded soon after takeoff, it was so cool to see. Their launches were must-see.
Elon Musk was the SpaceX founder, CEO and chief engineer.
Tesla was founded in 2003. Elon Musk joined the company a year later as its largest shareholder. In 2008, he became their CEO. The company then took off and became the early leader in electric automobiles. In 2024, Tesla has sold fifty-five percent of all-electric cars.
In 2022, Elon Musk purchased Twitter, which he rebranded as X. The next year he interviewed with then-presidential candidate Ron DeSantis. It was marred with massive amounts of technical issues. The disastrous episode helped end DeSantis's hopes of becoming president.
Elon tried it again earlier this week with another X interview—this time with Donald Trump. Again, technical issues caused a delay of more than a half-hour. Once those were fixed, it wasn't any better. It was another Musk-X disaster—and that's not including how toxic X has become since the Musk purchase.
Wouldn't you think a guy who could create SpaceX and Tesla could handle something as simple as a website interview? If you were an astronaut would this make you rethink working with SpaceX? If you're looking to buy an electric car, are you thinking of manufacturers other than Tesla?
