Donald Trump is raising my blood pressure...really!
IT'S STARTING ALREADY!
I just received a voice mail from Walgreens about my prescription: "Your order is delayed due to an insurance issue that we're working to resolve."
Damn! I was expecting this to happen but not until January 20th.
Do you think insurance companies are feeling empowered to do this because of the election victory of Donald Trump? I DO!! Do you think we'll be seeing things like this more often because of the election victory of Donald Trump? I DO!!
The prescription I was denied is for a blood pressure drug. I've been taking it for years and it works great. Every so often my insurance company tries to switch it out for a cheaper one. It never fails that the new med doesn't work as well, my BP rises, I bitch about it, we go back to the original med and life is all good again. It's a pain in the ass but we've done this dance before and I know how to play the game.
This is the first time I've had to refill the prescription since the election and I can't help but think there's a connection between all of this. Hey, just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean I'm wrong?! Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean that my insurance company isn't out to get me?!
I'm not downplaying high blood pressure but here's what I'm really worried about....what if you need medicine for something a lot more serious? I've already seen a story where someone was denied a prescription for diabetes. No problem getting the pill in October, denied in November? What's next...denial of chemo for Cancer patients? What's to become of my friends who take multiple pills each day for Parkinson's Disease? Will they need to cut back to one or two a day instead of four or five?
I remember all the way back to last spring when our President-elect said that he wasn't going to have Americans dying in the street because of insurance issues and I took that to heart. However, being the cynical guy that I am, I've been worried and stressing about this more than anything else during the last three weeks.
I know...I know...it's only a pill and maybe I need to chill out but it's only November and it's already started. I should put my trust that insurance companies are going to do right by us? I should put my in that Donald Trump is going to do right by us? Sigh!
It's a long ways off to 2020. I wonder how Michelle Obama feels about Americans dying on the street?
I wrote this back in March when Donald Trump as President didn't scare me. I've since changed my mind.
