Donald Trump-"Lock him up!"-Irony

Irony is a dish best served cold.

It was March 2016. I took the above photo at a scheduled and canceled Donald Trump rally, in Chicago. It wasn't the only one I saw that night. I'm sure you could see that button at Trump rallies nationwide.

In addition to the buttons, you could hear the chant “Lock her up” over and over and over. While Trump didn't join in, he certainly egged it on. You could see the glint in his eyes as it was occurring.

Donald Trump and his supporters were desperately hoping his opponent for the presidency would end up behind bars—like the photo on the button.

It’s eight years later. Hillary Clinton never ended up behind bars because she has never been indicted of anything, much less convicted—even with Trump controlling the Department of Justice.

As everyone in the world now knows Donald Trump was convicted yesterday. Thirty-four counts, thirty-four guilty verdicts. And it didn't take long to get a reaction:

“Lock him up”, “Lock him up”, “Lock him up.”

You saw it on Facebook. You saw it on Twitter/X. I wondered if there was a “Lock him up” button. I found this one:
