Don't let a blow out be a distraction
I'm not a big fan of Nancy Pelosi. She's been a member of the House of Representatives since 1987. She could be the poster child for term limits. I think thirty-three years is too long...way too long. Not just for her, but for anyone. I admit she's good at her job as Speaker of the House. I wish there was someone younger in the position, not because of her age, but because we need to start grooming the next generation to take power. But, because of the fool in the White House, we need someone with her strength and experience to keep Donald Trump in check.
It turns out that I have something in common with Nancy besides voting for Joe Biden in November. We both had blowouts the other day. Who knew? Who would have guessed? Certainly not me!
I've heard the term blowout for decades, but I admit that I wasn't exactly sure what it is. So I went to my old friend Google to check it out: In its simplest form, a blowout is the art of drying hair after a wash to achieve a smooth and sleek look, style and feel -- no curling or flat iron involved!
WOW!! That's it? Hell, I've been getting blowouts all my life. I have one almost every day! In fact, I just had a blowout immediately before I started writing this...and like Nancy, I wasn't wearing a mask, either! However, my blowout starts in the shower as opposed to a closed beauty salon, but that's just nitpicking.
Seriously, I can't believe this is even a story. Yeah, this is something Pelosi should not have done. Yeah, she used her position and privilege to get a service that other California citizens can't have. Yeah, she should have immediately apologized instead of blaming the salon and claiming she was set-up. If she had done that first, this story would have been over.
All this over getting your hair washed and dried. Ridiculous.
So when you're obsessing over a blowout, remember this: There are six million cases of Covid-19 in the United States. 187,000 citizens have died of Covid-19 in the United States. The unemployment rate in the United States is over ten percent. Mass evictions are occurring because of all of the above. The upcoming election is at risk due to internal and external forces. Racial unrest events in America are a daily occurrence. Donald Trump is still president.
These are the important things to focus upon. Anything else is a distraction. Don't let a blowout be the reason for how you cast your vote! And Nancy, next time you need a blowout, just walk into one of your many bathrooms and do it yourself. No apologies will be needed.
