Five years of noodles and ice cream

She said she liked noodles. I do, too. I said I like ice cream. So does she. We had that in common. When I asked her to go out for noodles and ice cream it was the start.

She ordered a noodle dish with garlic. I said I better kiss you before you eat that. I thought I was being smooth. I think she thought I was being forward. Either way, it did happen. That was our first kiss.

After dinner, we went to a coffee shop for ice cream. We closed the place down…literally. They went out of business a few months later.

We were together until 2 am. I knew I needed and wanted to see her again. What I didn’t know is that I would still need and want to see her five years later.

Today is the fifth anniversary of that first date for noodles and ice cream. We’re returning to the scene of the crime as we always do on January 13. I’m sure we’ll have some form of noodles and later they will probably be ice cream. Tradition!

So to my friend, lover, significant other, and partner, here’s to five years together with more to come. Happy anniversary. Here’s to noodles. Here’s to ice cream. Here’s to love. Here’s to us.
