Glen Campbell: Hit songs on which he played guitar
Glen Campbell died today at age 81, after a six year battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
To say his career was legendary would be an understatement. He released more than seventy albums, sold forty-five million records, which included twelve gold and four platinum albums. He won ten Grammy's, including the 1968 Album of The Year for By The Time I Get To Phoenix.
Campbell started his career as a session musician. He was a part of The Wrecking Crew, a group of musicians based in Los Angeles, who played on hundreds of hit recordings...often in place of the band's regular musicians. Campbell helped with records made by The Beach Boys, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, The Monkees and many others.
While he made his name through the great songs in his solo career, he made his early money playing on these hit songs.
