Happy Anniversary, 'Merica
One year ago today. November 8, 2016. It was a day that began with hope. It was a day that ended in shock.
When the day started, most of us expected to be celebrating at the end of the night. It was going to be a historic night. America was going to elect their first President that wasn't a man. Sure she had more than her share of flaws but how could anyone expect a man who offended minorities, Gold Star families and talked about grabbing women by the pussy to be elected?
But as the night turned into morning, that man's supporters were seen yelling "call it, call it, call it", and they were the ones celebrating.
When that last state went red, Donald Trump had defeated Hillary Clinton to become President-Elect of the United States. We knew our lives were going to be changed. We couldn't imagine just how much.
Two days later, Donald Trump went to Washington to meet with Barack Obama. The meeting went longer than expected. Remember when they shook hands for the cameras? Maybe this isn't going to be as bad as we thought. Fools...we were fools.
It didn't take long 'Merica...it didn't take long. January 21st, just one day into the new administration. Millions of women were marching throughout the country. Sean Spicer was lying to the press about the previous days inauguration numbers. ONE DAY!!!
It was the start of more than three hundred days of Breaking News.
Spicer, Priebus, Flynn, Manafort, Bannon, Miller, Price, DeVos, Putin and Kellyanne Conway. Russia, Nazis, KKK, Statues, North Korea, Health Care, The NFL Fake News and Alternate Facts. Harvey Weinstein, Bill O'Reilly, Mark Halperin, Dustin Hoffman, Jessie Jackson, Kevin Spacey, George H.W. Bush Sutherland Springs, Las Vegas, IT"S TOO SOON!
It's always something....Every. Single. Day! All that and more in just one year. Three hundred and sixty five days. I can't wait to see what year two will bring.
Happy Anniversary, 'Merica.
