Happy New Year!!
I know we are now eight days into 2025 but I thought I would give everyone a week to get over the holidays and into regular life again.
So—back in April, on the last anniversary of this column, I announced that I was going to close up shop in late January.
APRIL FOOLS!!
You see, I had some other plans that sounded good/great eight months ago but are not as likely to occur now.
I wanted to help write a play— the keyword is help. I was hoping to find a group that would combine our talents and write something together. If it got produced—great. If not—that would be great, too. You see, this writing thing is lonely. You're sitting by yourself in an office or at a desk and you're alone with your thoughts—if you have any—and a blank piece of paper. It’s not as much fun as some of us make it out to be. Yeah, the finished work is fun—or a relief—but the process—not as much.
More than a few years ago I was involved in a group collaborative writing project. Both the process and the results were so rewarding that I looked forward to working on it each year. But, Covid put an end to the 2020 season and we never picked it up again for various reasons. It’s now five years later and I still miss everything involved with that project.
You can see why I’m jonesing to get involved with something like that again. But, I don't see this happening so as long as I have the time—and I have a lot of that, I might as well stick around around here. Besides, I really don't want to call it the end on Trump Inauguration Day—part two. OY!!
I know I still have a few things I want to write about here. I'm going to Las Vegas in February to check out the Eagles at The Sphere. I'm looking forward to telling you my feelings about the venue and the band. Plus, I just began writing a book—did I bury the lede on that? I’ll share how that process is going or not going. And, surprisingly, more people are reading this than they have in five years, including a lot of newbies. I don’t know why that is happening, but I wouldn’t want to take it away from the recent readers (sarcasm)—at least not yet. By the way, did I mention I’m going to write a book? Okay—enough on that for now.
So until further notice—and it’ll still be sooner than later—you're stuck with me—hold your applause. Happy 2025 and I’ll see you around the formerly blank pages.
Any chance you could recreate the activity you miss doing, or has that ship sailed?
Good!
