Having a Donald Trump WTF moment
It was just one week ago. Almost to the hour. Seven days. Seven long days.
I was watching MSNBC and they showed our current President and the current first lady getting ready to take their first foreign vacation...errrrr...business trip. Saudi Arabia, Israel, The Vatican, Belgium and Italy. Yep, the Donald was taking his brand of crazy international.
They were getting ready to board Air Force One and stood at the top and waved. One thought came to mind. How the fuck did this happen? I'm pretty sure it was more than coming to mind. I'm pretty sure I said it outloud....and I was alone. Apparently his brand of crazy is catching.
I was thinking it over and I really don't have many of these moments. Oh yeah, I watch the news constantly and have a lot of oh fuck woe is us moments over the policies that are going to harm the people who can least afford to be harmed but rarely do I focus on the process that got Donnie elected....well except for that Russia thing that's going around.
Naturally, I couldn't keep my thoughts to myself. Hey, it's 2017 and we have all these forums to spout our thoughts...yeah, including this one. It was off to Twitter. Then it was time to do some Facebooking. I had to ask: Do you ever turn on your tv, you see Trump, realize he's President of the United States and say to yourself, how the fuck did that happen? How often?
Now if you know me and my peeps, you can imagine the responses. Seventy-Three likes and over one hundred responses. They range from Every Single Day to the clever I Got A Dumpster Family, who has her thoughts about #45 on a loop. Nothing unpredictable about that.
However, I do have about five Trump supporter friends (at least I think we're still friends) who chimed in. There was even some back and forth interactions between the two groups that went on for a few days. No one was hurt. I don't even think feelings were hurt. It was peaceful. No swastikas were painted. No media bodies were slammed. Also no one had their minds changed but I'm sure you knew that.
I did take a couple of things from this: a. It is possible to have intelligent conversation and discourse during these trying and bizarre times. Not likely but still possible. b. I've found a lot of kindred spirits who think about him even more than me. I wasn't sure it was possible. I'm also not sure it makes me feel better.
So the POTUS overseas trip is coming to an end. He only bowed his head in Saudi Arabia, gave them a huge arms deal, wrote a note at the Western Wall that would embarrass a fifth grader, pushed a world leader at NATO and then tried to collect money from our allies like he was a bookie. All in all not a bad week in Trumpville.
Pretty soon he'll be coming home. Back to the USA. He'll board Air Force One, stop at the top and wave goodbye to Europe. I'll probably shake my head and say out loud to no one, how the fuck did this happen?
Even when you try to get away from the crazy he makes it hard. Here's one about Mental Health Day's.
