How's your NCAA Basketball tournament bracket doing?
The first round of the NCAA Basketball Tournament is in the books. How's it going for you? Is your bracket busted yet? It seems as if every year, all I hear is tales of woe over a team that lost. Even worse is the whining over multiple teams are out. Dead brackets on the first weekend.
I haven't heard much of that this year. After round one, only one of the top sixteen seeds had lost. Not a lot of upsets at the top. On Thursday, my picks went 14-2. Pretty, pretty good, right? I was feeling pretty good about my college hoops expertise when I saw someone who writes at ChicagoNow brag:
"March Madness-I better say this fast, as of now I have a perfect bracket."
Pffft....showoff! Killjoy!
I didn't do as well on Friday. Liberty got me! Damn that Jerry Falwell Jr. for multiple reasons. Finished at 11-5. Not great, not horrible. Doing the math, for the first round, I'm now at 26-7. I think that's okay. I know it's not going to win any of those million dollar bracket challenges but it could be worse. I could be the guy who filled out the bracket up top!
Every year the former President of the United States, Barack Obama fills out a tournament bracket. Remember when he did it from the Oval Office? Hey, if you think that's not presidential, compare it to what Clinton and Trump have done in there. Anyway, for a guy who considers himself somewhat of a hoops savant, our favorite POTUS went 16-10. Yeah, I know his Final Four is still alive but he picked Duke to win it all. Way to go out on the limb there B.O.
So that's it for the first two days of basketball dancing. Maybe during the next two days, we'll see a few upsets. Then we can hear some bitching, moaning and whining when I ask "How's your bracket doing?"
