I ran into a Trump voter fraud rally.....in Deerfield
It's a slow Saturday morning. We needed some bread, eggs and milk so I decided to take a road trip to our local Jewels. I get to the corner of Waukegan and Deerfield roads and what do I see? Both corners are jammed with Trump voter fraud protesters. Some have Trump banners, others with Maga flags and even more holding the good old red, white and blue. I was heading in the opposite direction...and we really needed the milk... so I just shook my head and continued on to the grocery store.
I admit to being more than a little surprised by seeing this. After all, we're in Illinois. This isn't exactly Trump country. Our state was called for Biden about five minutes after the polls closed. Plus, this is the northern burbs. While I don't think of Deerfield as a bastion of liberal thought; I also don't think of this as the home of MAGA and The Proud Boys. And don't these people read the failing New York Times? Don't they know that there was zero fraud found in any of our fifty states? Sigh! Anyways....
Twenty minutes later, I'm on my way back home. They're still there. This is my big chance! This is my opportunity to find out what these folks are thinking. Plus, I'm an adult. I pride myself on being able to have respectful conversations with anyone, no matter what they believe.
I turn the corner, roll down the window and start that respectful conversation:
Hey! What the fuck is the matter with you people?!!
See, adult and respectful, right?
A woman responded to me by yelling back, "It's not over!" I'm pretty sure I responded back to her with another f-bomb. See, once again adult and respectful!
Our five seconds of intelligent chatting comes to an end. It wasn't because I didn't have more lovely things to say; it was because the cars behind me with sitting on their horns. I took that as a sign to drive on....or maybe it was just that they wanted their own opportunity to wish the protesters well. Hmmmm...
I get home and unpack the groceries. Damn, I forgot the milk. I could go back to The Jewels? I wonder if they're still there? Maybe, I can come up with something classier to say? Hmmmmmmmm.
