If you’ve read this column over the years, you know I’ve had a therapist. Hell, I’ve had four different ones over the years. I may need to do some in depth analysis about that, but we’ll save that for another time.
During the hour-long sessions, we tackle some serious topics. It’s not always pure intensity; we occasionally take it down a notch or two.
On Thursday, she asked me if I had anything I wanted to do or accomplish for the rest of the year. I told I wanted to go to Europe, in particular, Paris and London. When she asked why, I told her I’d never been to either place and I wanted to see two things—The Eiffel Tower and the street crossing at Abbey Road. Of course, she knew about the former, but she had no idea about the latter.
I explained to her about the photo on the album cover but still nothing. She did a little Googling and brought up the iconic photo that Beatles fanatics love and revere. It’s the reason more than a thousand people stop traffic to take a photo of themselves in this intersection EVERY SINGLE DAY!!
When I explained it to her, she kind of shrugged. I also had to tell her which one was George Harrison. SIGH!! Maybe it’s a generational thing but c’mon—doesn’t everyone know George Harrison?
We ended the talk about the Beatles and Abbey Road with me telling her about how much I love the album and recommended that she give it a listen. Then, we can talk about it next week. She laughed because we both knew it wasn't going to happen.
I guess on Thursday we’ll go back to talking about death and relationships. Left unsaid, maybe, will be that must-see trip to Abbey Road because London’s Calling my name. Oh man, there's another iconic album. Do you think I need to teach her about The Clash?
I hope you do get to London and yes for the Beetles x
