I'd Love To Sleep With The Fishes
Welcome to Chicago Now's Blogapolooz-hour (sucking up to Jimmy G.).
Each month there's a topic and we get an hour to write about it. Tonight's topic " “Write about sleep and the impact it has on your life now or at any point in your life."
Good thing I woke up from a nap to do this one. This topic has my name all over it. I've even written a couple of blogs about sleep because it's a big problem with Parkinson's Disease.
We can't sleep at night. We get tired during the day. We take naps. We get up. We might take another nap. It's bedtime and we can't sleep again. Over and over and over. Oy! I'm tired just writing this paragraph.
It's wears you out and wears you down. It was one of the reasons I stopped working. I never knew when I was going to need to sleep. Employers really frown on their employees sleeping at their desks. Bastards...I know.
For me, the sleep issue is the worst part of Parkinson's. I can deal with the tremors. I can deal with the balances issues and falls. Knee pain, back pain, constipation, sexual issues....no problems. Well, I wouldn't say no problems but man this sleep stuff is tough.
I've talked with my primary doctor. I've talked with my neurologist. I've talked with all three of my therapists. I even fell asleep in the therapists waiting room. Sleep aids...naaa. More naps, less naps. Valium. Two valiums. Warm milk. You name it, I've tried it.
I guess I'm pretty much at the point where I just deal with it. Bedtime is 1-2 am. I'm looking at the clock now and it says 9:15. Only about four hours until bedtime
Sigh!!
Since this is my Gallery week....here's some photos and music about Sleep.
