I'm A Mommy Blogger Wannabe
I usually write about Parkinson's Disease and pop music but I really want to be a mommy blogger!!
If you have children, they become your highest priority almost immediately after birth. When my oldest was born, it took about a minute for her to grab my finger and from that point everything else took a backseat.
In the last four years, Amy's job has had her living in San Fransisco, New York City and now Los Angeles. Pretty heady stuff for someone who is only 24 years old...well almost 24.
For a parent, it's tough having your child live thousands of miles away but at least she's in the USA. Summers are different.
During the summer, Amy goes international. The last few years she's been working in Israel and India...not Indiana...India! OY!!
As you know the world is going crazy. Lots of shit going down. The good news is she didn't go to Israel this year...phew! Thank whatever deity you believe in for that!
However...planes are being shot down, women worldwide are being treated horribly and anti-semitism is on the rise. Amy is a Jewish woman flying to Delhi....HAT TRICK!!
So yeah...Dad is worried more than normal.
She was leaving Sunday night so instead of our normal Facebook or text chats, I felt a need to call...more for me than her.
It goes to voice mail and the message says her mailbox is full. Are you fucking kidding me?
She did call me back and we had the parental-child talk about being careful, make sure you don't go places alone, keep your eyes open at all times...yada, yada, yada. Actually it was really just a parent chat because I did all the talking and I imagine her kinda listening and rolling her eyes...pretty much what I did to my parents. Payback is a bitch.
It's now Wednesday. She must be there and safe since I saw a Facebook like this morning. One hurdle down.
Amy will be in India for only two weeks this trip....only. I'll be done stressing about this in mid-August. Then I'll find something new to worry about. This parenting thing never ends.
I truly am a mommy blogger at heart.
