Is There A Doctor In The House
TODAY IS THE DAY!!!!
I've been in the market for a new neurologist since April. It's been a five month journey. The trip ends at 1:00pm and what a long strange trip it's been.
If you haven't been following this adventure, (and damn you if you haven't but welcome) my original neurologist had a stroke. It's taken five months to finally get in to see this new doctor. There were a lot of roadblocks along the way but it looks like we'll finally make it. I'm both excited and apprehensive. More importantly, I'm prepared.
I have pages of medical records. I have copies of about a dozen tests. I have a list of questions that I'm getting answered before I leave.
Yes, I'm prepared. I have to be. Let's face it, it took forever to get to this point. Who knows how long it will take to get a follow up visit.
So that's where we stand. To be honest, I don't think anything will be changing. As bad as some of my recent episodes have sounded, I'd rather deal with them, than deal with the side effects of Parkinson's meds.
The one thing I hope to get out of this is that I'll have found someone to be on my side during this battle. Someone who will take the time to answer questions, when I need answers. Someone who will be an advocate for his patients. Someone who will be a calming source when I get scared and stressed...and yeah, all jokes aside, it does happen.
Am I asking for too much?
One o'clock can't get here soon enough!
