It's My Blog's Birthday: You Can Not Be Serious!
Today's the 2nd birthday for my blog. Big time celebration. Pizza, cake, ice cream. Well maybe not a big celebration since that's pretty much my every day diet.
The "Shakes" start the terrible twos today. I thought last year was rough so I'm not sure how I'll be able to handle this one.
Last Christmas someone asked me to describe my blog. I said, "I write about Parkinson's, Death, Nazi's,Antisemitism and The Beatles."
Since then I've added Cancer and Homelessness. Oh man...when did this become so serious?
My blog started as a way to take a funny look at life with Parkinson's Disease. Somewhere we lost the funny. I'm sad because I like funny.
In the last few weeks I've been told by more than a few people that one of my pieces has made them cry. As a writer, I realize that reaching people on a deep emotional level is a good thing. As a human being it takes a deep emotional toll on me.
My plan for year three was to get back to lighter, less serious topics. So what am I writing about this week...Cancer and Homelessness. OY! Sigh! As John McEnroe more than one time said, YOU CAN NOT BE SERIOUS!
I'm never going to get out of therapy. Oh yeah, I forgot...I write about therapy, too.
Enough whining...let's get the celebration started. Grab some pizza and a couple of beers. Be careful...I can't promise I won't write about alcoholism this year.
Two years ago today I wrote this. Let Me Introduce You was the first post on this blog. We've come a long way, baby!
