I've been taking a much needed break from Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton
My name is Howie and I'm a television political addict." "Hi Howie!!"
Six days to go! 6! SIX!!!
Phew, I can't take much more and really, a lot of this it is my own fault.
This campaign has been going on forever...or does it just seem like it? Donald Trump announced his candidacy in June. Hillary announced hers in April...of 2015. That's seventeen months. It really has been going on forever. OY! Sigh! Fuck!
It's been an intriguing and entertaining seventeen months in a Nascar car crash kind of way. You know you shouldn't look but you can't help yourself. A lot of the time, it's the damage that you want to see. How bad is it and what's next?
And I admit to be all in.
Here's what my life has been for the last year.... early morning-Morning Joe 8 am- Stephanie Ruhl 9 am- Craig Melvin 10 am- Tamron Hall 11 am- Andrea Mitchell etc, etc, etc
You get the picture, don't you? And it went on and on until late at night. Don't forget Hardball, Rachel and Meet The Press Daily. And it wasn't just MSNBC. I admit to watching Fox, too. I need to see what the enemy thinking. So I started watching the show with the four women and a Dude, plus Kelly Files, O'Reilly and the first couple minutes of Hannity...at least until I started throwing up in my mouth a little.
Pretty bad, right? But it gets worse. I'm connected to the reporters who are on the trail with the candidates. Katy, Hallie, Kristen and the others. I can even tell you about their personal lives. Katy Tur used to be involved with Keith Olberman. Hallie Jackson is married but keeps her personal life personal...how refreshing. Kristen Welker recently got engaged and her parents are thrilled...at least according to the former Governor of Pennslyvania Ed Rendell. Chuck Todd is a fan of the Miami Hurricanes, Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Dodgers.
See! Help! I really need help. That's a good first step, right?
I reached my breaking point about two weeks ago. I started watching CNN because apparently MSNBC and Fox wasn't enough. It turned out I was wrong. It was wayyyyyy past enough and I couldn't take it anymore.
I decided to go off the grid....the political grid.
Two weekends ago I decided to take a little break. I was informationed out. I've already voted....A MONTH AGO! So I figured to take a few days off and guess what, it felt good. So I did it again. A few more of them felt better so let's go for some more...why not? It's now thirteen days and I admit to getting a little antsy.
I'm not totally off the information grid. I do watch the national nightly news with Lester Holt. I also watch Meet The Press on Sunday mornings. And don't tell anyone but I did cheat last Friday when the Comey email story broke, but just for enough time to get the info I needed....about five minutes. Plus, you can't get away from the Facebook political posts, although I have unfollowed about half of my supposed friends on both sides. See ya'll again next week....maybe. Not to mention the political ads you can't avoid. OY! Sigh! Fuck!
But....but....like I said, I'm getting a little antsy. There's only a few days left. SIX!! I think I'm ready to come back. It won't be today. Today is all about the World Series but that ends tonight. Win or lose, I'm going to need a day to recover so I'm planning my political return for Friday morning. It's going to be epic. Almost like Nixon becoming President after saying you won't have him to kick around anymore.
Yep....I'm gonna suck it up, put on my big boy panties and see what's going on in the world. I'm pretty sure I can handle four days of Clinton/Trump bs...pretty sure. OY! Sigh! Fuck!
Besides, I've been missing my MSNBC buds lately. I wonder how Kate Snow and her kids are doing?
It really did start in March when I spent a night at the almost Donald Trump rally in Chicago.
