I've Got The Blues
About ten days ago I brought up the idea of renaming Midway Airport for Blues legend, Muddy Waters. It seemed like a good idea to me. If New Orleans can name their airport after Louis Armstrong, why can't we name our secondary airport after Muddy?
I tried to get some help in my campaign. I called the media department for Midway. They asked for my request in writing. I sent an email asking about procedure for renaming the airport. They asked who I wanted to name the airport after and to see my first piece. I think this is where I ran into trouble. I sent them this http://www.chicagonow.com/hippy-shakes/2013/12/muddy-waters-international-airport/.
I haven't heard back from her as of yet. As if naming the airport for Muddy wasn't enough, having Butterfield and Bloomfield as possible choices may have ended my credibility.
HEY!!! What's the matter with Mike Bloom-Field? OY!!
I also tried to contact the Chicago Tribune music critic. Sent him an email asking for suggestions. I'm not locked into Muddy. Just as long as it's no one from Styx, then I'm good. Never got a response.
People....this is serious business. I send an email, at least show the courtesy to respond. I'll try again on Monday.
So that's where we stand on the Muddy Waters International Airport renaming.
I've also narrowed down the list of deserving musicians form about 1000 to 10 possible candidates. Like I said, I'm not locked into Muddy so I have some alternatives. I'll share those tomorrow.
