May is Melanoma Awareness Month and first Monday of the month is Melanoma Monday. Today we dress in black to raise awareness for this deadly disease.
The above list has ten people who were diagnosed with Melanoma. As you can see Cancer plays no favorites. The list includes politicians, athletes, musicians, writers and plain old regular folks. It also plays no favorites with who lives and who doesn't. Five are here and five are gone. With Melanoma, it's really simple. Catch it early and you have a 95% chance of beating it. If you don't, your life expectancy is five years. It's that simple! And of the five survivors on this list, we've been around 1, 2, 3, 11 and 18 years since our treatment.
There are some easy things you can do to cut down your chances on getting Melanoma: .Stay out out of the sun during peak hours .Use sunscreen .Wear hats .Do a monthly body check .Stay out of tanning beds I told you it was easy.
You do the above things and as Bob Marley once said......
This is last years Melanoma Monday piece. More to come but be careful out there. #Sunscreen
