Lawyers, Guns and Money
How does a guy with Parkinson's Disease carry a gun? VERY CAREFULLY!!!
With Illinois becoming the final state to allow residents to carry concealed guns, my first thought was how does this affect me? Do you really want a guy who has to carry a cup of tea with both hands to be shooting a gun in public? Yeah....me neither!! Odds of me either shooting myself or missing the target...80/20...and that's on a good day. So even though I'm really excited to be able to pack heat in public, it's probably never going to happen. To quote another song, I'd be shaking all over!!
Besides, I'm looking at a list of all the places where you still can't carry and they really should have just listed places where it will be legal to have a gun. Let's take a look some of them....
Airports- The airline loses your luggage. They tell you it might be a couple of days before it's found. Pulling out a gun might make the search go a little faster.
Gambling Facilities- You're at a black jack table. You have 20. Dealer shows 12. Hits a 9. You lose. Pull the gun. Dealer loses, too!!
Public Transportation- Oh man...where do I start on this one? Every day there would be story. Talking too loud/GUN. Checking emails on the stairs/GUN. Stroller full of groceries taking up handicapped seating/GUN!!! Ok...maybe that one is justified.
Stadiums & arenas- Have you seen the local Chicago teams play baseball this summer? Starlin Castro gets picked off 2nd base with his team down four runs (something that actually happened last week). Maybe just shoot to wound in this case, although if it keeps occurring....
When you add in schools, libraries, public parks and restaurants, there really is nowhere I go that I can bring a gun. As broken up as I am about that, I'll get by. I do wonder what the people who were looking forward to having a gun in public will think when they see this list.
Even though the law was passed yesterday, it will be a few months before it takes effect...figure early 2014. There's going to be a lot of unhappy people on both sides. Here comes the Lawyers, Guns & Money. Cuz kids...the shit really will hit the fan.
