Little Caesars has a better solution for feeding the homeless community than eating pizza out of their trash
It's winter in Fargo, North Dakota. You're homeless. It's brutally cold and you're hungry. You're desperate for some food. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
You find a Little Caesar's pizza restaurant. You wait until the end of the night when they throw out their leftover food. You're in the alley going through their trash for whatever you can find.
It's a horrible way to live, but at least you're still living.
The store manager, Michelle Lussier, saw this happening nightly. Instead of trying to run off the homeless people, she tried to help. Michelle came up with a solution. She put up a sign.
To the person going through the trash for your next meal: You're a human being and worth more than a meal from a dumpster. Please come in during operating hours for a couple of slices of hot pizza and a cup of water at no charge. No questions asked.
Michele wanted to treat these people with compassion and dignity. She wanted to make a difference in their lives.
“Don’t feel embarrassed if you’re hungry and you don’t want to do what others do, you know stand on the corner for handouts.…You feel down about that, you’re more than welcome to come here and grab a couple slices.”
In addition to this, the restaurant also donates leftovers pizzas to a local food pantry. They also have a box in the store for donations to help their homeless community.
Little Caesars is helping the Fargo homeless community, a piece or two at a time.
