Medicare 2020: It's confusing
It's that time of the year again. No, not Merry Christmas. No, not Happy New Year. It's open enrollment for Medicare. Time to make a decision on health care options for the next year. No pressure there. Definitely not the most wonderful time of the year.
There's plenty of information available to help with your decision. Maybe too much. One minute commercials. Half hour infomercials. Brochures in the mail. Ads on Facebook. Ads on Twitter. Information overload.
First you have to sort through the plans. This one has good dental coverage. That one has excellent vision care. Hmmmm...here's a good prescription deal. Look at this offer for a free gym membership that sounds great, but I'll never use.
So many choices.....
Next, are my doctors in the plan? Primary physician-check. Neurologist-check. Dermatologist-BUZZZZZ! But, she takes another plan that sounds okay. Do the others? SIGH! It's enough to make you want to pull your hair out. Is there a plan that covers the damage from that?
See?!! I told you it's confusing. CONFUSING A.F!!!!!!!
You'd think I'd have this down by now. After all, I've been on Medicare for more than two years. My problem is the rules and offers change each year. It's hard to keep up. You'd also think the government would make it easier on us post-65 peeps. Yeah, that's what you get for thinking that anything involving the government would be easy.
I'm pretty sure I'll be okay with this....pretty sure. I have managed to do this before and survived....barely. I'll just go through all the information again...probably multiple more times...and make a final decision. No stress. I just have to do this by the deadline....WHICH IS TOMORROW!! Okay...there's a lot of stress. I may need to use that free gym thing. What plan has that again?
