Please don't dress as a Nazi for Halloween
Today is October 31st. Final day of the month. Happy Halloween everybody!!!
Are you going to a party? Will you be trick or treating? What about a costume? Are you dressed in a Star Wars outfit? Maybe something sexy? What about your kids? Will they be a Disney character? How about being an athlete? So many choices of what to wear. So many decisions to make. If you haven't decided about your costume, let me give you a little advice....
PLEASE DON'T DRESS AS A NAZI FOR HALLOWEEN!!!
The above photo shows a Kentucky man dressed in a Nazi uniform. He has his son dressed as a little Adolf Hitler. They were attending their local Owensboro "Trail of Treats" event. He defended his choice by stating that he was a history buff and often dressed as a historical figure. A year earlier his costume was a confederate soldier. Looks like he decided to double down in 2018.
Naturally he had some answers when accused of being a racist. "White pride doesn't mean hate." Next he blamed the liberals for his predicament. "Being a liberal means being a hypocrite." Nice...great...wonderful...okay, you aren't a racist. We believe you (eyeroll).
Of course, he's married to a woman who has her own opinions about this. She thinks Jews control the banks, the media and the government. She also has a few issues with the Holocaust.
"There is no objective proof of the six million Jews he supposedly murdered. If there was really a Holocaust, then why does it have to be forced down your throat. Open your eyes, people."
Let's have another chat about anti-Semitism. There's nothing new about this. It's being going on for centuries. We would like to think that we've become a more tolerant people since World War 2. Sadly, we haven't. In the last few years, Jews have been fleeing Europe in record numbers. In the United States, anti-Semitic episodes are up sixty percent since 2016. You can't go a week without hearing about a synagogue or JCC building being desecrated with a swastika.
If that's not enough, ask any Jew if they've had a personal moment with anti-Semitism. I'll start the discussion by telling about the time I was called a fucking Kike because a baseball was thrown on a neighbor's lawn. I was twelve years old.
I hope I've given you enough reasons not to wear a Nazi costume today, but if you're still on the fence, here's eleven more:
Bernice Simon Sylvan Simon Melvin Wax Daniel Stein Irving Younger Rose Mallinger Jerry Rabinowitz Joyce Fienberg Richard Gottfried Cecil Rosenthal David Rosenthal
Those are the eleven victims of the shooting at Pittsburgh's Tree of Life synagogue. They were murdered because of only one reason. They were Jewish.
I hope this information helps you on making the proper choice of a Halloween costume. If history is your thing, try Abe Lincoln, George Washington or Winston Churchill. Just don't be a Nazi! If you're mind is set on that, read this one more time before going out. Thanks for not being a Nazi.
Happy Halloween!
