“Arizonans know BS when they see it.”
She started in media in 1991. She became a nightly news anchor in Phoenix in 1999. Most of her appeal was based on the skills she learned in that job: polished speech and appearance. Kari Lake knows how to make the most of makeup and soft lighting. SNL’s cold open last weekend was more fact than satire.
“I’m going to win the election, and I will accept that result. The people of Arizona will never support and vote for a coward like Katie Hobbs. “I’m going to win the election, and I will accept that result.”~Kari Lake
No one was surprised at those words. It was as if they came out of the mouth of the person who gave her his complete and total endorsement, Donald Trump. Once you get that, you’ve committed yourself into spewing the party line. Trump’s approval of how Lake was selling the stolen election lie was shown in his remarks to another election denying candidate, Blake Masters.
“If you want to get across the line, you’ve got to go stronger on that one thing. That was the one thing, a lot of complaints about it. Look at Kari. Kari’s winning with very little money. And if they say, ‘How is your family?’ she says the election was rigged and stolen. You’ll lose if you go soft. You’re going to lose that base.”~Donald Trump
And Kari even double downed on the Trump thing. She not only went all-in with Don, she trashed his late enemy, beloved Arizona legend John McCain. These were her words at a recent event:
"The party of McCain. We don't have any McCain Republicans in here, do we? Okay, if you are, get the hell out. I know. Boy, Arizona has delivered some losers, haven't they?"
Last night Kari Lake joined the list of losers.
But, there was one thing she said that rings true. Arizonans sure know BS when they see it. In this election, they let Kari Lake know it.
Nice article, one of your best. Well put together.
One of the saddest aspects of this political era, among so many, is the trashing of the reputations of good men like John McCain. (I don’t identify as Republican but the man appeared to have done his honorable best). It’s a tragedy of our times that our battles are fought in the gutter, without dignity or benefit of truth.
