Showing gratitude to one million readers
The goal was to write a book. I thought by writing a blog, I'd have enough stories to put a book together. The plan was never to write more than twelve hundred of these things. But that's what happened. Apparently, goals and plans change. They're flexible.
When you do anything for close to a decade you'll hit a few milestones. Earlier today I hit a big one. Someone has now read, or at least looked at for a second or two, something I have written here one million times. That's right 1,000,000 times. Yeah, it's probably the same ten folks clicking over and over and over, but still, it's 1,000,000!!
If you had told me a decade ago that I would reach this number, I would have rolled my eyes and made a sarcastic comment. That's actually not much different than what I do daily concerning almost everything in my life. I just never figured I'd be doing this for this long. But, as I said earlier, plans change....and I'm glad they did.
When I started this exercise, I was focused on a single topic. Over time, it's morphed into so many different directions that I've lost track of everything I've written about. That's what has made this fun. That is what has kept it fresh. That's probably what has kept people returning. And all of this is why that somewhat magical number was reached today.
Oh yeah, about that number...yes, it gives me an opportunity to toot my own horn in self-congratulations, but what it really does is it gives me chance to show my gratitude to everyone who has spent some of their valuable time reading the nonsense that runs through my brain. I appreciate it more than you know.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
So, it's on to more of the same. Probably not for another decade and probably not another one million views, but you never know. I guess we'll see and hopefully, we'll see together.
