Super Bowl LIX: What will be more annoying—cutouts to Taylor Swift or Donald Trump?
It’s the final football game of the season—Super Bowl LIX—for those who don’t know Roman numerals that’s fifty-nine. I’m not judging; it took me three tries to get the letters correct.
If you’re going to the game, it’s going to be crazy. Security at these games is always tight, but then the massacre in New Orleans meant security would be increased. Then, Donald Trump decided he would attend the game, so now getting into the stadium is going to take forever. Here’s a pro tip: if you’re actually reading this and going to the game, turn off your computer or phone and leave immediately.
As for Trump attending the game, he’ll be the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl. He’s going to get a lot of attention—maybe not as much as Patrick Mahomes, but maybe more than Jalen Hurts—hmm, we’ll see.
Trump won’t be the only celebrity there—far from it. But, the one who will get more than her share of focus is Taylor Swift. I’m not breaking any news here, but you all do know that Taylor is the girlfriend of Chiefs player Travis Kelce. And if you’ve watched a Kansas City game in the last couple of years, you’ve seen the cameras focus on her multiple times during breaks from the action. It was cute the first few times, but after a while, it became more than a little annoying.
So the big question for later isn’t whether Kansas City can three-peat or will Philadelphia break through to derail the Chiefs dynasty. It’s who will be shown on television unnecessarily more—Taylor or Don?
My guess is Trump and if the over/under is 30, he’ll be going well over that. Maybe he’ll even sign an executive order or two at the game. But if the Chiefs are winning and Travis is having a big game, Taylor sightings could go through the roof at the Super Dome.
As for the game itself—I don’t care. I’m just there for the Kendrick Lamar halftime show. Man, that’s going to piss a lot of people off. Another pro tip: Stay off Twitter in the third quarter.
