Taking It To The Grave
Grudges! Slights! Arguments! Break-ups!
It always amazes me when people who care deeply about each other stop. They stop seeing each other. They stop being friends. They stop communicating. They stop loving each other.
They just stop.....
Parents cut off their children. Children are done with their parents. Siblings don't talk to each other. Lifelong friends have a falling out.
I get it that people can be mad. I get it that people can feel wronged. I get it that feelings get hurt.
I just don't get the forever thing!
I heard a story about how some folks in their 90's had a disagreement. No idea what it was about but it turned into a big one.
These are people who grew up together. They've known each other for close to 80 years. I can't imagine what could be so painful that you would want to shut down that long a relationship.
I was reminded of this today when thinking about another death of a former classmate. Losing one of your peers is always a life is too short moment.
Although I'm saddened by her loss, it reminded me of a couple of people I'm not talking to now. I'm more saddened by that.
Do I want to make the first move? No!
Do I think I'm ready to talk to them now? No!
Do I want to take this to the grave? Absolutely NO!
Maybe it's time to pick up the phone......maybe.
