The kind of Presidential edition of The June Month in Review
We’ve come to the end of another month. There was so much news in June, that we needed to make it into two parts. Let’s get started with some real news—okay maybe fake news. You decide.
The obvious lead story for June was last week’s presidential debate. President Joe Biden had a disastrous night. It was so bad that calls for him to drop out came from commentators on MSNBC. Even former Senator Claire McCaskill said the Democrats should be looking for a new candidate. You know it’s bad when you’ve lost those shills. It got a little better when he showed up at a Waffle House to talk with diners, but all that did was make me feel like having some waffles. It got much better the next day when he held a rally, but it makes you think, who is the real Joe Biden?
It wasn’t much better for former President Donald Trump—even though he and all his supporters pretended it was the best debate performance in the history of debates. He spent ninety minutes lying about everything from jobs created to sleeping with a porn star. By the way, why do they call it sleeping? I’m ninety-nine percent positive that there was no sleeping in the five minutes they spent together.
Anyway, the night was a disaster for everyone, but mostly for the citizens of this country. And when you think it can’t get any worse, July will bring us the sentencing of Trump in New York, and the Republican National Convention.
Earlier in the month, Don showed us just how presidential he is.
Here’s his uplifting Father’s Day message—IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS!
“HAPPY FATHER’S DAY TO ALL, INCLUDING THE RADICAL LEFT DEGENERATES THAT ARE RAPIDLY BRINGING THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA INTO THIRD WORLD NATION STATUS WITH THEIR MANY ATTEMPTS AT TRYING TO INFLUENCE OUR SACRED COURT SYSTEM INTO BREAKING TO THEIR VERY SICK AND DANGEROUS WILL.”
Lovely, right? But then there’s his thoughts about migrants and MMA that he shared with Dana White, president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship:
“I said, ‘Dana I have an idea. Why don’t you set up a migrant league of fighters and have your regular league fighters? Then you have the champion of your league — these are the greatest fighters in the world — fight the champion of the migrants.’” I think the migrant guy might win. Remember this, these migrants are tough. They’re tough. They come from prisons and many other places, rough places. They’re just getting used to a country. They’re just settling in.”
Wow! Even Dana didn’t think this was a good idea. Yeah, that’s the guy we want to lead the country—again. Sigh!
Here’s an idea—why don’t we find a Jewish woman to be our President—LIKE MEXICO DID!! Yeah, you’re reading that correctly—Mexico, as macho a country as there is, with an almost eighty percent Catholic population, elected Claudia Sheinbaum as their newest President. Who would have thought that Mexico would be more progressive about this than the United States? After 2016—pretty much all of us.
How about I leave you with an uplifting story:
Steve Bannon is a radical on the right as they come. He has no love lost for the current Justice Department. In an interview, he predicted that when the Trump administration takes charge, Merrick Garland and Lisa Monico will be prosecuted and spend a lengthy amount of time in prison. In a huge amount of irony, out of Bannon, Garland and Monico, guess who is the only one in jail? Yep—Steve Bannon reported on July 1 for a four-month vacation at a Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut.
Okay, I know that was not very uplifting but how about we end with this:
Bailey Anne Kennedy is the new Miss Maryland USA. She’s the first transgender woman and Asian-American to win the title. She is also married to Marine Corps Captain Casey Gup. Here’s what Kennedy told ABC News about winning the contest:
"To be able to be in this position and be able to make an impact on my community, especially with the LGBTQIA+ community, military spouses and immigrant women to be able to make such an impact," Kennedy told ABC News. "I think that's just something that I could never dream up, and it's such an honor to be here."
Kennedy is set to compete on Aug. 4 at Miss USA 2024 in Los Angeles.
That’s all for June. See you at the end of July when we can talk about Donald Trump being in prison after his New York sentencing. That’s all folks.
