Live from Northbrook Court: Northbrook, Illinois.
At the beginning of October, I decided to take part in the Fox Foundation 31 mile challenge. The idea is to walk thirty-one miles for the month. The idea is to raise money and awareness for Parkinson’s Disease. Good idea plus I figured the walking would do me good. Win/win!
I've been checking the challenge website and found that people have been blowing way past the mileage goal. Show-offs!
I, on the other hand, took it literally. I'm walking a mile a day for each day of the month. So far, so good.
This brings us to why am I writing this in a mall?
Well, it's Chicago in October so it occasionally gets a little chilly. The last two days it's been thirty-five degrees chilly. So, I took the walk to the nearest mall…and here I am. Btw, this place is a ghost town. There are as many walkers as there are shoppers, but that's a sad story for another day.
I'm here to walk! Seventeen days and miles down, fourteen days and miles to go.
See you on the other side.
Great - you found a way to get it done! I’m sad for Northbrook Court. I lived in NB many years. There used to be so much going on, with plenty for families to do. I occasionally visit the area and find it ironic - such a surge in terms of congestion, with a large Ghost town mall. Not that we don’t have some of that here, in my rural area not too far away.
