The Michael J. Fox Show....Another Look
There have now been three weeks, four episodes, of the new Michael J. Fox Show. NBC and his foundation have a lot riding on this so let's take a look at what has occurred so far.
Premier week was a disaster. Ratings of 2.1. Killed by the new Robin Williams show "The Crazy Ones" on CBS. To be fair, Williams show had "The Big Bang Theory" as a lead-in.
The MJF Show had "Parks & Recreation" as it's lead-in. I love Parks & Rec, and I want to thank my daughter for telling me about it, but apparently the rest of the country doesn't feel the same way.
Week 2 was even worse. MJF dropped 21% from week 1. YIKES!!!
But NBC isn't giving up easily. They ordered a full season of 23 episodes and we are going to see all of them.
Week 3 was pretty good. The MJF Show improved about 20 % from the previous week. All the NBC Thursday night comedies had that same result.
I've already read a report that the Fox show will be renewed for a second season. Really?! Already?!!
Next, let's review the show. Critics have given it a thumbs up. It's been called the best new network comedy of the season.
WOW!! It must be a pretty weak season.
I've seen all four episodes. I had to give it a chance. Afterall, he is the leader of my people.
I've laughed three or four times plus a few chuckles. I want it to be funny but it just isn't.
The guy who plays Mike's boss, Wendell Pierce, is pretty funny and he gets the best lines, but really, that's about it.
Plus, they do a lot of talking into the camera. It was clever on "The Office". Mike, I knew "The Office" and your show, sir, is no Office.
I feel like I've done my part. I gave it my best shot. I've spent two hours watching that I can't get back.
Mike...I love you, man, but I can't watch anymore. Good luck but you're on your own.
