The new health care game: Guess which one of these ten pre-existing conditions I don't have?
In late April, there was a cool Facebook game. You named ten musical acts. Nine of them you had seen in concert and one of them you hadn't. People had to guess which one you missed. Sounds like fun, right? So let's try it....here's my list: The Who Rolling Stones Neil Young Led Zeppelin Barry White Marvin Gaye Ella Fitzgerald AC/DC Wilco Stevie Wonder
Pretty cool list. Now start guessing. Now do that with one hundred or more people, over and over and over and over again. Easy to see why the game became annoying after a day (really it was after a couple of hours).
Two weeks later, who would have ever thought that the House of Representatives would give us the chance to revive the game and have some more fun....well maybe. Last Thursday, they passed what they hope will be the new health care bill. If you can forget that it will change millions of lives, and not for the better, I have a game that can entertain you and all of your friends.
Since Thursday, a few lists have surfaced which shows ailments that will be considered pre-existing conditions. If you have any of them, insurance companies can charge you higher rates...if you're lucky. You can see a list of about ninety at the top of the page. We play the same way as the concert game. List ten ailments and pick the one that you don't have. This is especially fun if you're in the age group of sixty and over. Let's give my list a try and you can how much fun this really is: Acid Reflux Arthritis Depression Diabetes Gout Kidney Stones Mental Health Issues Parkinson's Disease Skin Cancer Tooth Disease
Pretty cool list!! Now start guessing while making your own list! Hurry, while the game is still fun or at least until your own pre-existing condition doesn't kill you because your insurance has been cancelled.
I'll let you all off the hook. If you guessed Diabetes, then you win. When you consider how Diabetes ravaged my family, on both sides, for generations, I don't know how it skipped over me and my siblings but as of today that's the winner in this game. And before I forget, the music game winner was Led Zeppelin. I had tickets to see them back in the olden days of the 1970's but the show was cancelled because one of the band members was ill. Hmmm...do you think he had one of these pre-existing conditions? I hope we see Robert Plant's list.
A post about pre-existing conditions, what are yours?
