It didn’t have to happen. It didn’t need to come to this. There was a simple solution to the problem. All he had to do was one thing. His ego wouldn’t let him do it.
The National Archives asked him to return the papers. He wouldn't do it. He actually ignored them. His advisors asked him to return the papers. He said no. His lawyers asked him to return the papers. He said no. The Justice Department asked him to return the papers. He again said no.
Because of who he thinks he is, he thought he was above it all. He thought what applied to others, didn't apply to him. Later today, he is going to find out he was wrong.
