The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominations have been announced. Where's Warren Zevon....again?

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced their nominees for the class of 2020. Here are the acts:

Pat Benatar Dave Matthews Band Depeche Mode The Doobie Brothers Whitney Houston Judas Priest Kraftwerk MC5 Motörhead Nine Inch Nails The Notorious B.I.G. Rufus featuring Chaka Khan Todd Rundgren Soundgarden T.Rex Thin Lizzy

We can argue about the worthiness of all of them. We can also revisit the argument of are some of them really considered rock and roll. But, here's the argument we should be making:

WHERE IS WARREN ZEVON?!

Zevon was considered one of the great singer-songwriters of the classic rock era. Yes, the hall of fame is inundated with musicians from that genre of music...some may say there are too many. I would agree with that. There's also the argument that many of those acts are undeserving. That may also be true, but that shouldn't keep someone who is worthy and has been long overlooked from being inducted.

If nothing else. two albums should get him in: a. The album "Excitable Boy" brought us "Werewolves of London", "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner", and the title track. b. "My Ride's Here" is what Zevon described as "a meditation of death." A look at impending death almost fifteen years before David Bowie did the same thing. The album was groundbreaking. Zevon died a year later. 

Warren Zevon has eligible for hall of fame induction since 2004. He has not been nominated one time....not even once. His being honored in Cleveland is long overdue. It's one of the travesties of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and it's electors. Those of us who care about this stuff should send "Lawyers, Guns and Money" to Cleveland. The shit has hit the fan.
