The Songs That Got Chicago Elected To The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
Thursday, the band Chicago was elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They've only been playing since 1967 so this honor was way overdue.
In those forty-eight years, there have been nineteen different musicians who have been members of the band. Plus another fourteen have been on various tours. With that many players, it's understandable why they've played many different styles of music. Chicago even had a disco era...good thing it didn't last long.
It really breaks down to the early years where Chicago was a mix of rock and jazz with a great brass section. It was revolutionary music. Then there was the Chicago that was dominated by love ballads sung by Peter Cetera and produced by David Foster. Big hits and big money makers but not the kind of music that wins over critics. It's also not what gets you elected to the Hall of Fame.
If you're a fan of the ballads, that's cool. There's room for everyone and thanks for reading. You're excused!
But here are the songs that were game changers for Chicago. Songs that made you sit up and listen. The songs that are sending Chicago to the R&R HOF.
