The trials and tribulations of the May edition of The Month in Review
There was one huge trial and plenty of tribulations in this late edition of The Month in Review. Let's get started:
The big story of May was the Trump trial. Thirty-four counts/thirty-four convictions. The reactions to the verdict have been almost unanimously by party affiliation. But the bigger question is where was/is Melania? Imagine what life in their house was like during the trial—especially during Stormy Daniels's testimony. Either a lot of silence or a lot of screaming. I’ll bet that prenup was reworked—again.
The trial revealed a lot of testimony that was so gross that it made you squirm. My two most icky moments were Trump comparing Stormy to Ivanka—yuck. Then they both decided to have intercourse without using a condom, despite knowing each other’s history—double yuck!! I feel so dirty after writing this that I need a long shower.
Enough of Don for now—we’ll have more on him later. Let’s see what some other Republicans have been doing.
South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem took heat for killing her dog because it wasn't a good hunting dog. Then she doubled down on it by making multiple excuses. Kristi can forget about getting the VP spot on Trump’s ticket, although she probably lost that when it became public knowledge she was having an affair with Cory Lewandowski.
Not this is new, but Republicans still can't accept the results of the 2020 Presidential election—and they won’t commit to accepting the 2024 results. The difference is now those who aren't Maga-types are doing it—and in public forums. When asked the question about accepting this year’s results, Tim Scott kept repeating that Donald Trump will be president. Marco Rubio said if it's okay for Democrats to do it, why not us? It’s always amazing to me that people who hate Donald Trump continually suck up and show loyalty to him when they know they will get nothing, and most likely get dumped on, in return.
It wouldn't be a month of news if Marjorie Taylor Greene wasn't involved.
First, she wasn't happy that House Speaker Mike Johnson worked with Democrats to fund Israel and Ukraine. She decided it was enough for him to lose his job. House Republicans and Democrats disagreed. The vote failed badly. Apparently most in Congress have had enough of Marjorie.
Second, a House hearing with Attorney General Merrick Garland went bad and MTG was in the middle of it. She started it by commentating about Jasmine Crockett wearing “fake eyelashes.” Alexandra Occasio-Cortez stood up for Crockett and it went worse from there. The feud between MTG and AOC has been going on since 2019. Is it only a matter of time until we see a catfight on the floor of the U.S. House?
Finally, Marge got a look at the paperwork the FBI used to get into Trump’s home to seize the papers he kept there. It said that force could be used if needed. Margie took that to mean that the FBI was planning to assassinate the former President. I don't think she really believed but she thought it sounded good. As usual, she thought wrong.
How about Rudy Giuliani? The former Mayor of New York City was indicted for trying to overturn the 2020 election results in Arizona, along with the usual suspects. Rudy was the last one to be served his indictment papers and he decided to poke fun at Arizona officials with this now-deleted Tweet: "If Arizona authorities can't find me by tomorrow morning: 1. They must dismiss the indictment; 2. They must concede they can't count votes." And off he went to celebrate his 80th birthday at a party in Palm Beach, Florida. As the party ended and he was walking to his car, Rudy was served with the papers. I hear the server was singing Happy Birthday as he greeted Rudy—but maybe that’s just in my imagination.
Back to the former POTUS—besides his trial, he got in trouble for opening his mouth. That’s nothing new. He posted a video on his Truth Social site using the words "INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASED... DRIVEN BY THE CREATION OF A UNIFIED REICH." It’s language associated with the Nazi regime. Here’s some advice—try to avoid using or saying anything associated with Nazi’s. It’s not a good look. But, I’m sure this won’t be the last time we see something like this.
Next came Memorial Day. Most politicians give a heartfelt or at least a pretend heartfelt message honoring the fallen soldiers who gave their lives for our country. Donal Trump gave us this:
“Happy Memorial Day to All, including the Human Scum that is working so hard to destroy our Once Great Country, & to the Radical Left, Trump Hating Federal Judge in New York that presided over, get this, TWO separate trials, that awarded a woman, who I never met before (a quick handshake at a celebrity event, 25 years ago, doesn’t count!), 91 MILLION DOLLARS for “DEFAMATION.” She didn’t know when the so-called event took place - sometime in the 1990’s - never filed a police report, didn’t have to produce the “dress” that she threatened me with (it showed negative!), & sung my praises in the first half of her CNN Interview with Alison Cooper, but changed her tune in the second half - Gee, I wonder why (UNDER APPEAL!)? The Rape charge was dropped by a jury! Or Arthur Engoron, the N.Y. State Wacko Judge who fined me almost 500 Million Dollars (UNDER APPEAL) for DOING NOTHING WRONG, used a Statute that has never been used before, gave me NO JURY, Mar-a-Lago at $18,000,000 - Now for Merchan!”
Speaking on behalf of the Radical Left and the Human Scum…What the fuck is the matter with you??!!
And with those final words, we’ll call it a month. See you at the end of June—if you survive the cicadas.
