It was a long but wonderful weekend.
It began with the rehearsal on Friday afternoon. Followed by a long trek to a town many had never known existed, for dinner. It was an even longer ride back to the northern burbs.
On Saturday, there was a luncheon.
We awoke Sunday morning to a rainstorm that lasted the entire day.
But all of it paid off big-time when my daughter Amy and her fiancé Ted said their “I do’s” to become husband and wife….when they became a family.
There are always emotional moments with daughters. It starts early when they grab onto your finger in the first moments of their lives. Then there is their first day of school. Graduations of junior high, high school and college. They get their first job and move out of the house to begin life on their own. All of those are tear-jerkers but nothing gets you like walking your child down the aisle to see her get married. NOTHING!
And when you’ve slightly recovered from watching your daughter take a new name, it’s time for the father-daughter dance to Frank Sinatra’s “The Way You Look Tonight.” OMG! Who the F had the brilliant idea to choose that song? Oh yeah, it was ME!!!
But, even as your heart is pounding as you experience all of this, you know you’re watching something special. It’s every parent’s dream to have their child find their life partner. To find the person who will have their back and support them through thick and thin….and there will be both. On Sunday, this parent’s dream became reality.
Mazel Tov on reaching this wonderful milestone, Howie!❤️🎉😊
