This is 2020
Out with the old...In with the new. So long to 2019. Hello to 2020.
Happy New Year everyone. Long time no see...well, if you consider ten days a long time. I like to bring in the new year with a message of positivity and hope. It's usually something like each year is a new beginning. It's an opportunity for a fresh start. If you had a bad year, here's your chance to make it better.
Blah, blah, blah! Yada, yada, yada!!!
I'm not going to do that this time. Not this year. No way! I know 2020 is going to be a shitshow!
Sorry to be a downer on the first day of the year, but I'm just trying to keep it real. I'm trying to get you prepared for what's going to happen in the upcoming three hundred and sixty-six days (It's a leap year, dammit).
2019 was pretty bad, wasn't it? There was the Mueller Report, impeachment and Trump 24/7/365. Pretty intense crap. 2019 kept you stressed. You never got a break.
Sorry about that. I know you were hoping for better this year. I'm going to be a killjoy.
2020 is going to bring us the Impeachment trial, the democratic presidential primaries, and the presidential election. Oh man, can you imagine how intense crazy that is going to be? All of this is going to be great for writers (thank God for small favors), but for the general public, it's going to tax our mental health. If you have a Valium prescription, make sure it's current. If not, get one...and the sooner the better! Good thing recreational pot is now legal in Illinois. Being stoned all day will be a better alternative than being stressed. Welcome back to the college years.
However, I will bring you some good news: next year is only twelve months away. It goes fast, people. That's usually a bad thing. Not in this case. In just three hundred sixty-six days we'll be able to say "Out with the old. In with the new. So long to 2020. Hello to 2021."
