Top Ten List: David Letterman And His Music
Tonight will be the final Late Show with David Letterman.
I've been a huge Letterman fan since the opening NBC show in 1982. There was something about him that made you turn him on every night. It was so much different than anything that was on the air. Bill Murray was the first guest. Chris Elliot, Brother Theodore, Larry "Bud" Melman, Stupid Pet Tricks, Viewer Mail. Monthly visits from Jay Leno doing "What's Your Beef". Brilliant must see/appointment tv...and it was tough to do when he comes on at 12:30 on the West Coast.
Another great thing about his show was the music. Every night he had a musical guest...and it was an artist or a band that my generation wanted to see. We had the same musical sensibilities. This kept me awake until 1:30 am for many years.
So from our home office in Lincoln, Nebraska....here's a Top Ten List of Great Performances from Late Night & The Late Show with David Letterman.
