Twitter should shut down Donald Trump's account
The presidential election was a month ago. Four days later Joe Biden was declared President-elect. The reign of Donald Trump was over.
Since then Donald has laid low. We've seen him a few times at a golf course. He's had a couple of short press conferences, if you consider running off before any questions can be asked a press conference. What he's mostly been doing is staying in the residential area of the White House and tweeting. Almost all of his tweets have been about the election. Actually, it's been an airing of his grievances about the election. For Donald Trump, Festivus came early this year. All he needs is a Festivus pole.
Usually, his tweets are harmless. Sure, they're uncomfortable for the person he's tweeting about, but they could fight back if they had a spine....and most of his victims don't. But, now his rambling tweets are mostly about election fraud. Twitter has decided that his tweets are misleading, so they need to be refuted. Some will say: This claim about election fraud is disputed while others are labeled: Multiple sources called this election differently. More than one hundred of his tweets has one of these warrnings.
None of this is strong enough because what his tweets actually are is LIES!
Yeah, I know Trump lying isn't anything new. We've seen it since he decided to run for President more than five years ago. But, this is different. This is dangerous. His lies are putting lives at risk. Every time he calls someone out, one of his deranged supporters takes it to a higher level. We've heard about threats to the Georgia Secretary of State and his family. Other politicians in Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona and Pennsylvania have also had threats. All because, even though they're Republicans, they decided their allegiance to the constitution and a fair election was more important than to any one individual.
And, because Trump does it, his flunkies think it's fine for them to do the same thing. One of his election lawyers, Joe diGenova called for violence against Chris Krebs, a former cybersecurity official who was ousted from his position by President Donald Trump after he rejected the President's unfounded claims of widespread voter fraud. After Krebs appeared on "60 Minutes", diGenova went after him:
"Anybody who thinks the election went well, like that idiot Krebs who used to be the head of cybersecurity. That guy is a class A moron. He should be drawn and quartered. Taken out at dawn and shot."
It's getting well out of hand and the reason is Trump doesn't care who is hurt. He's using the tweets and his the election fraud lies to raise money. He says the money will finance the court challenges, but we know that Trump is finding a way to put a large percentage of the funds in his pocket. Once a grifter, always a grifter.
So, he's going to keep this up until his presidency ends in fifty day...and maybe even well after that. A lot of damage can be done in that time. But, there is one way to put this to an end. Twitter needs to cancel Donald Trump's account.
Yeah, I know about freedom of speech and that damn first amendment thing, but people's lives are more important. I also realize that shutting down the president's account would set a bad precedent, but again people's lives are at stake. So c'mon @Jack....take a stand. Do the right thing. Keep people safe by shutting down Donald Trump's Twitter account. Helping most of us keep our sanity is a secondary benefit.
