Who is Jay Inslee and why is wasting his and our time running for President?
The first two Democratic debates are over. The race to see who will be the challenger to our current President is on!
Williamson, Bennet, Yang, Hickenlooper, Swalwell, Delaney, Ryan, Gabbard and yes, Inslee. Who are these people? Unless you live in one of their states, do you know any of them? Would you recognize any of them if they knocked on your front door?
I'm not really picking on Jay Inslee. I'm sure he's a hell of a nice guy. Actually, I'm not even sure about that because I had never heard of him until a few weeks ago. Last year, I spent two weeks in the Washington state, where he is the Governor, and I never heard his name mentioned....not even once. Even after watching the first debate, I wasn't quite sure which one he was. I had him mixed up with John Delaney.
Not being on my radar doesn't disqualify anyone from becoming the next leader of the free world, but it does mean they have an uphill battle. I'm up to date on current events. I watch a lot of news and political programs. I read a couple of newspapers each day. If someone with my background isn't aware of you, how do you think you register with those who don't do any of those things?
I have no issues with anyone who wants to run for President. It's a free country. If you want for public office and want to make the United States and the world a better place, good luck to you. But, this is a desperate time in our country. It's critical that we have a new leader living in the White House on January 20, 2021. Most of the twenty folks we saw in the two debates have zero chance of being that new leader. They're polling at 1% or less. What's the point? They're spending a lot of money for their fifteen minutes of fame.
I know it's still early. The first caucuses and primaries are months away. The election is sixteen months away. The problem is with so many candidates on the stage, fighting for speaking time, the messages get lost they talk/yell over each other. And yet, we'll have the same format a month from now, in Detroit. Same thing, same crap, just in a different location.
It's time to narrow the field. Now! We are better served by a smaller group on the stage, exchanging their ideas. We can get a better idea on who to support and more importantly, who is the one person to beat Donald Trump.
So to Jay Inslee and most of the others, it's been nice getting to know you, but you need to go back to your day gig. Our time and yours would be better served. Thanks for playing, but your time is over.
