Who would have guessed that Joe Namath would become my Medicare insurance guy?
Medicare ain't easy. I've been on the program for almost four years and I'd have a hard time explaining plans A, B, C from X, Y, Z. I'm pretty sure one is for hospital care, another for your doctors and still yet another for prescription drugs....pretty sure. All I know is whenever I need one of the above, I give them a card and it's taken care of...maybe.
But, every once in a while I need to know more about Medicare. November and December are one of those times. That's the period where we seniors get to make choices about our government health care. Should we keep what we have or should we make a change? Is something new actually something better. Again, it's confusing. So, I need an expert on the subject. I need someone to help me make that decision. Hmmm....who is that go-to person?
JOE NAMATH!!!
Wow!!! Who would have guessed that Broadway Joe would become my insurance guy? Wow!!! Who would have guessed that when Joe was guaranteeing victory in Super Bowl 3, I would be relying on him to help me stay alive?
And yet, here we are. I'd say there's nothing more 2020 than Joe Namath being the commercial spokesperson for Medicare and advantage plans, but he's been doing these commercials for three years. Maybe I'm just noticing it now because I've been watching a lot more television because of the pandemic. Maybe it was because those ads were broadcast at seemingly every commercial break. Hmmm...probably both!!
But, what if I want is to eliminate premiums and co-pays? I should talk to Joe! I really could use some new glasses. A free ride every so often would be nice, too...hmmmm, Joe? Yanno...I'm uncertain about the virus and vaccines and I need to get everything I'm entitled to. Right, Joe?!!
Man, this is really going to come in handy...and I thought the only thing Joe was an expert on besides football was trying to kiss Suzy Kolber...although that didn't work out so well.
The bad news is now that I found him, the deadline has passed and I won't need all of this information until November 2021. Oh well....and maybe by then, there will be a new celebrity spokesperson who will be an expert. I hear Dorothy Hamill is pretty knowledgeable on this subject. WOW!! I thought her only subjects of expertise was figure skating and how to sport that cute wedge hairstyle for close to fifty years.
