Why do people wear shorts in Winter?
It's Monday, December 9, 2019. The time on the marquee at the top of the bank says 10 am. A few seconds later it switches to the temperature. It says 49 degrees. Not bad for Chicago.
I walk across the street to catch a bus and see a man wearing a trench coat. It's unbuttoned so you can see what he's wearing under the coat. He has on a dress shirt with a tie and......SHORTS!!
I'm not going to comment on the combination of his outfit....okay, I lied. First off, why would you wear business-wear on top and shorts on the bottom? Maybe he works at home, has a conference Skype call and needs to look professional? Maybe he's a news anchorperson and the camera only shows above the desk? Doubtful to both scenarios, but that's not the point.
The point is it's December in Chicago. That means Winter. Yeah, it's a lovely forty-nine outside, but let me reiterate....it's not shorts weather!!!
I always wonder what a person's mindset is whenever they do something you might consider ummmm....iffy? For instance, yesterday morning, when I was deciding what to wear for the day, I picked out a sweater, some pants, socks, shoes and my heavy winter jacket. It never crossed my mind to put on a pair of shorts. You know why? BECAUSE IT'S WINTER AND IT'S COLD OUTSIDE!
So here's the deal people....During the month of December, and you can add January, February and probably March, April and May, unless you live in Florida, Arizona, California or the other warm weather states, put those shorts in storage. You can take them out in June, or since we're in Chicago, more likely in July or August.
And about that tie with the shorts.....ehhhh...nevermind.
